Coloured Glass Splashbacks Glass Types
Glass West Coloured Glass Splashbacks are manufactured with Category A Toughened Safety Glass for heat resistance, durability and peace of mind. There are 2 main types of Toughened Safety Glass used by Glass West for Coloured Glass Splashbacks, being Clear Toughened Safety Glass and Bleached Toughened Safety Glass.
Clear Toughened Safety Glass is used in the majority of Coloured Glass Splashback installations. Clear Toughened Safety Glass is the same glass type that is readily used in clear glass doors, shower screens and glass pool fencing. Although not readily noticeable when used in the before mentioned applications, the iron content of Clear Toughened Safety Glass will produce a subtle green hue when colours at the lighter end of the colour spectrum are chosen for Coloured Glass Splashbacks, such as whites, creams and beiges. This green hue is indiscernible in the greater majority of colours and is also regularly used with lighter colours for a softening effect.
Bleached Toughened Safety Glass is a low iron glass that eliminates the green hue associated with lighter colours when applied to Clear Toughened Safety Glass. Bleached Toughened Safety Glass provides crisp colour representation and is increasingly popular when colours at the lighter end of the colour spectrum are chosen for Coloured Glass Splashbacks, such as whites, creams and beiges.
